Boznabad Earthquake of 16 January 1979, Mw 6.5<\/strong><\/p>\n

The destructive Boznabad earthquake of 16 January 1979 occurred at 13:20 local time (09:50 UTC) in east Iran. The earthquake had magnitude of Mw=6.5 with 11 km depth and its epicentral coordination was located at 33.9N and 59.46E. The event was triggered due to the Boznabad fault activity which had a Mechanism of Reverse\/N\u2013S right-lateral.<\/p>\n
